Very few people can live in isolation. We generally do better when we have people around to talk to, share stories with, and support us. I feel this is especially true when it comes to faith and religion. Here, I will attempt to share my thoughts and reflect on my spiritual journey -- I know this will further strengthen my faith, and I hope this will positively influence yours as well.  - CradleCatholic2.0

I enjoy learning about the lives of saints. One that I recently learned about was St. Isidore, whose feast day is May 15. He was a faithful man – he went to church every morning before going out to work on the farm. One day as he was laboring away, he saw someone else in need of help, and dropped his plow to provide assistance without worrying about his own work. When he returned, he found that his work on the field was completed for him. Legend says angel helpers and mysterious oxen stepped right in.

This story reminds me not to worry about the things on earth, because God will take care of us. Instead, we should focus on getting to heaven. Life on earth is transient, but life after death is eternal. Focusing on the troubles at home, work, or school will only overwhelm us and draw us away from God. God wants us to trust in Him, and He will take care of the rest.

As Jesus once said:

“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”  (Matthew 6:33-34)

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroy, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”  (Matthew 6:19-21)

Like St. Isidore, let’s not labor over the things of this world, but prepare ourselves so that we may be worthy to enjoy eternity with our Father in heaven.
