How a person lives a life depends on his/her own decision. As Christians, we try to follow the footsteps of Jesus and be more like Him. We want to enter the Kingdom of God at the end of times. However, there are times in our lives that we forget about our mission. We put God outside of what we do and look for Him only when we are in trouble. There are those who find peace in God and others who blame on God for their misfortune, or the challenges they face in their lives.
If we have faith in God and trust Him, every challenge we face in life becomes a chance. A chance that we can get to know ourselves better: our strength, our weakness, our emotions, our life. A chance to get to know others: who we love, who love us, our enemies or maybe people we never knew existed. A chance to get to know God better: through prayer, meditation, reading the Bible, volunteering in a community. Challenges offer different possibilities and options, draw out the best abilities of an individual and put the person to test.
Blessed is the man who perseveres in temptation, for when he has been proved he will receive the crown of life that he promised to those who love him. No one experiencing temptation should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God is not subject to temptation to evil, and he himself tempts no one. Rather, each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire conceives and brings forth sin, and when sin reaches maturity it gives birth to death. (James 1:12-15, NABRE)
