聖 母 軍 是 一 個 普 世 性 的 教 友 團 體 ， 以 祈 禱 和 愛 德 服 務 ， 拓 展 基 督 的 神 國，彰 顯 天 主 的 光 榮。
- 不 要 團 員 們 的 財 富 或 勢 力 ， 卻 要 他 們 堅 定 不 移 的 信德 ；
- 不 要 團 員 們 的 輝 煌 事 業 ， 卻 要 他 們 恆 久 不 懈 的 努 力 ；
- 不 要 求 團 員 們 傑 出 的 天 才 ， 卻 要 求 永 遠 不 滅 的 愛 ;
- 不 要 求 強 大 的 精 力 ，卻 要 求 堅 定 的 紀 律
聖母軍起源
一 九 二 一 年 九 月 七 日，聖 母 聖 誕 日 的 前 一 天，晚 上 八 時，在 愛 爾 蘭 都 柏 林 城 内，有 幾 位 教 友 聚 在 一 起 ， 佈 置 了 一 個 簡 單 的 祭 台 ， 他 們 雙 膝 跪 地 ， 低 頭 誦 念 祈 求 聖 神 的 禱 文 ， 並 用 日 間 勞 動 的 手 指 拿 著 唸 珠 ， 恭 唸 玫 瑰 經 及 熱 心 短 誦 ， 然 後 坐 下 來 ， 在 聖 母 的 庇 佑 下 ， 開 始 討 論 怎 樣 最 能 使 世 人 敬 愛 天 主 。
一 個 龐 大 的 信 仰 團 體 聖 母 軍， 就 是 這 樣， 簡 單 地，豪 無 預 先 籌 劃 的 情 况 下 誕 生了。
聖母軍的宗旨
光榮天主、成 聖 自 己 、 聖 化 他 人
「光榮天主」透 過 團 員 的 神 聖，即 在 教 會 的 指 導 下，以 祈 禱 和 積 極 的 和 衷 合 作，在 聖 母 和 教 會 踏 破 蛇 頭 及 拓 展 基 督 神 國 的 工 作 中，彰顯 天 主 的 光 榮。
「成聖自己」「你們應當是成全的，如同你們的天父是成全的一樣。」(瑪 � 5 : 48)
聖 母 軍 團 員 一 生 不 斷 地 效 法 聖 母 ， 以 祈 禱 及 信 、望 、愛 的 生 活 ，實 踐 成 聖 自 己 的 使 命。
「聖化他人」「你們要往普天下去，向一切受造物宣傳福音。」(谷 -16 :15)
聖 母 軍 團 員 要 偕 同 聖 母 ， 不 怕 吃 苦 與 辛 勞 ， 要 在 人 群 中 成 為 宣 揚 福 音 的 酵 母 。
聖母軍的工作
- 為 達 到 光 榮 天 主 的 目 標 ， 聖 母 軍 每 週 被 團 長 委 派 ， 從 事 傳 教、牧 民、培 育 及 服 務 性 的 實 際 工 作 ，例 如 : 探 訪 醫 院、老 人 院、獨 居 長 者 等；教 授 道 理 班、兒 童 主 日 學；協 理 青 年 支 團 ； 為 人 群 中 的 不 幸 和 沮 喪 者 服 務 、 宣 傳 公 教 刊 物 、 為 青 年 服 務 等 等
- 聖 母 軍 團 員 在 工 作 時，應 以 信 德 的 精 神 和 聖 母 聯 合 在 一 起，在 所 接 觸 到 的 人 身 上，以 及 同 伴 們 身 上，重 新 看 到 耶 穌 自 己，並 且 是 由 祂 的 母 親 聖 母 服 侍 著。
About
The Legion of Mary is a universal group of Catholics established with the sanction of the Holy Catholic Church. Its object is to advance the reign of Christ and glorify God through prayers and service of love.
The Legion does not require from its members wealth or influence, but faith unwavering; not famous deeds but only unrelaxed effort; not genius but unquenchable love; not giant strength but steady discipline.
ORIGIN
The first enrolment of legionaries of Mary took place at Myra House, Francis Street, Dublin, Ireland, at 8 p.m. on 7 September, 1921, the eve of the feast of Our Lady’s Nativity. A little group came together, unaware that they were to be the instruments of most loving Providence. The table around which they met bore a simple altar, of which the center was a statue of the Immaculate Conception. They went on their knees and bent down their heads. The invocation and prayer of the Holy Spirit were said; and then through the fingers which had, during the day, been toilsomely employed, slipped the beads of the simplest of all devotions. When the final invocations died away, they sat up, and under the auspices of Mary, set themselves to the consideration of how they could best please God and make Him loved in His world. From that discussion came forth the Legion of Mary, as it is today, in all its features.
The Legion of Mary had the most humble of beginnings. It was not a thought-out organization and it sprang up spontaneously.
OBJECT
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation, under ecclesiastical guidance, in Mary’s and the Church’s work in crushing the head of the serpent and advancing the reign of Christ.
The general and essential means by which the Legion of Mary is to effect its object is personal service acting under the influence of the Holy Spirit, having Divine Grace as its moving principle and support, and the glory of God and the salvation of souls as its final end and purpose. Evangelization, especially the seeking of conversions to the Church, should be a priority for the Legion.
LEGIONARY SERVICE
The Legion requires ecclesiastical approval to work in a diocese or parish. Members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families and the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals, youth formation, catechism class, and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. Seeing and serving Christ in the sick and marginalized is a vital part of the legionary apostolate to glorify God. While not engaging in the giving of material relief, legionaries will often find opportunities to do works of service for the needy.
Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary, in such fashion that in those worked for and in one’s fellow-members, the Person of our Lord is once again seen and served by Mary, his Mother.
